Goodbye, Chapple Ave. Store

CFCtwitterbkgrd

Chequamegon Food Co-op is pleased to announce that on Monday, April 20, 2015 it closed the sale of 215 Chapple Avenue to a private investor. Honore Kaszuba, owner of Ashland Baking Company and The Black Cat Coffeehouse plans to work with the owner to operate her businesses in the space. The building has been vacant since the Co-op moved to 700 Main Street West in September of 2014. Chequamegon Food Co-op completed the transaction for an undisclosed amount.

“We are glad that we were able to work out a deal to help Honore,” said Co-op General Manager Harold Vanselow. “The Co-op’s owners made it clear that we should work closely with our neighboring businesses after our move and expansion to ensure their continued success, something that we agreed to do. By selling our old store to her, we are able to keep that promise.”

Honore plans to remodel the space to expand operations for both Ashland Baking Company and The Black Cat. Construction is scheduled to start in late 2015.

It’s sad to say goodbye to the place we called home for so long, but so very exciting to anticipate its future.
